Amantis is rooted in a heterogeneous terroir, a real mosaic of different soils and climates, where we produce wines capable of expressing pleasure and culture, elegance and contemporary style.

The winery is located on the slopes of an ancient volcano, Monte Amiata, which strongly affects the soil and climate our vineyards grow in. Our vines are constantly caressed by a cool, light breeze, which protects the grapes from moulds and diseases caused by excessive moisture; the considerable temperature difference between day and night contributes to the harmonious development of flavours, colours and polyphenols in the wine.

In our desire to achieve quality without compromises, we planted new vineyards from scratch where our decades-long knowledge and expertise could find a complete expression.

The very high density of our vines, which were planted at an average density of 7.800 stumps per hectare, promotes strong competition between the vines, which results in lower yields but considerably higher quality of grapes. This philosophy has found its purest expression in the creation of what to this day is the densest vineyard in the world: a small vineyard with a density of 20.000 vines per hectare, a bold and challenging experiment, where the grapes grow with a perfect balance and concentration.

In this unique terroir the different varieties of the famous Sangiovese grape grow.

As part of our intention to fully respect the heterogeneity and richness of the terroir and to create original and modern wines, indigenous and less well-known grape varieties have been planted along the Sangiovese. Among them we find the Alicante, Canaiolo and Colorino, grapes with distinct souls but connected by the same love for winemaking.
